ABSEN LED ABOVE THE RINKHome of the Adirondack Thunder
Less than a month after the debut of the first successful 4K Ultra HD centerhung video display at the NBA’s Sacramento Kings New Arena, Absen and Panasonic Enterprise Solution Company continue to innovate with their first collaboration in professional ice hockey. The Glens Falls Civic Center, home of the Adirondack Thunder, upgraded to Absen LED for picture perfect content to engage fans.
The arena was upgraded with 967 ft2 of Absen award winning permanent indoor N5 (5 mm) panels. The N5 created a centerhung display with 4 main screens, 4 corner accent screens and a lower ribbon ring of video display. In addition, the Zamboni Red Line Tunnel and the six entrance tunnels have also been upgraded with Absen N5 panels.
“The videoboard is a huge addition to the many improvements to the Thunder fan experience for our upcoming season made by Civic Center management and we’re excited about this substantial upgrade to arena technology and the impact it will have on our fans,” said Thunder President Brian Petrovek to the local Glen Falls newspaper, the Post-Star.
The Adirondack Thunder are an affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames competing in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). This installation was completed just in time for their home game against Florida. The Adirondack Thunders is the first team in the East Coast Hockey League to use LED displays above the ice. The new LED screens completely revitalize an arena that had been plagued by poor displays in the past and will make it a local hotspot for events throughout the year in addition to the Adirondack Thunder season.
“Partnering with Glens Falls Civic Center is very exciting, and we are ecstatic to provide technology that will improve the fan sensory experience in their home arena,” said Don Szczepaniak, Executive Vice President, Sensory Solutions, Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company. “The new displays are designed to give fans a clearer picture of what is happening in real-time on the ice and increase the engagement level in the stands.”
Absen and Panasonic are revolutionizing fan experiences across the nation. Absen is proud to engage fans and bring the game to life for a variety of sports including professional hockey, MLS, NBA, and professional boxing.
